Missing a tax deadline can mean penalties, interest, and compliance headaches. Here's every important deadline for 2025 organized by month.

January 2025

  • January 31 — Deadline to file **Form W-2** with the SSA and provide copies to employees
  • January 31 — Deadline to file **Form 1099-NEC** with the IRS and provide copies to recipients
  • January 31 — Form 2290 due for vehicles first used in **December 2024**

February 2025

  • February 28 — Deadline to file **Form 1099-INT**, **1099-DIV**, **1099-MISC**, and **1099-G** with the IRS (paper filing)
  • February 28 — Form 2290 due for vehicles first used in **January 2025**

March 2025

  • March 15 — Deadline to file **Form 7004** for S-Corp and partnership tax extensions
  • March 31 — Electronic filing deadline for **Form 1099** series (if filing electronically)

April 2025

Key Reminders

  • Form 2290 is due on a rolling basis — the last day of the month following first use
  • Extensions extend time to file, not time to pay — you may still owe interest on unpaid taxes
  • E-filing deadlines for information returns are typically one month later than paper filing deadlines
  • Weekends and holidays — If a deadline falls on a weekend or federal holiday, it moves to the next business day
